Partners in Our Civic Leadership Programs 

Thanks to our partners at SDG&E and Starbucks, Kids Korps and Teen Korps members countywide have opportunities to develop critical reasoning skills and volunteer based solutions as they assess, plan and develop service learning programs with pour corporate underwriters and community partners. Below, are two examples of initiatives currently funded by SDG&E and Starbucks. The Teen Korps Leadership Council (TKLC) engages Teen Korps members countywide in needs assessment and the planning and development of service learning programs with our sponsors and community partners.

The Kids Korps – Teen Korps Energy Innovators Program

Kids Korps and Teen Korps are proud community partners in the new SDG&E Energy Innovation Center. As part of this partnership, Kids Korps USA is working with Madison and Clairemont High Schools to create Teen Korps Chapters with members serving as Student Ambassadors volunteering their time and gaining job-related skills at this amazing center for energy efficiency!

Kids Korps Team Member & Starbucks Partner in Rancho Penasquitos with 1 of More than 450 Backpacks Donated Countywide 

Kids Korps and Teen Korps received funding from Starbucks, partners in our civic leadership and entrepreneurship programs since 2006, to create the “Four Seasons of Service” program in 2011.  Through the “Four Seasons” program, teens from throughout Kids Korps’ countywide Teen Korps chapter network had an opportunity to gain new skills and learn about specific issues and community needs as they actively lead the design & implementation of quarterly community service projects in partnership with Kids Korps members, board, staff & Starbuck’s partners.  Featured programs included; 1) summer green camps for low income youth, 2) backpack donation program for foster youth, 3) food donation and holiday packages for low income families through Feeding America, and 4) Build-A-Bike for members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Clairemont Mesa.
