Volunteer Camps
Each year, Kids Korps offers young people, grades 1-6, an opportunity to serve through a series of week-long summer volunteer camps. Each camp day, participants learn about a select community need, then participate in a service project with local nonprofit organizations addressing these needs. Teen Korps (High School students) and College Korps members serve as camp counselors, learning the value of mentoring to younger children.
SUMMER VOLUNTEER CAMPS 2012
(NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS!):
July 9 -13 from 9am-1pm (Kids Korps Signature Camp Volunteer!)
July 16 – 20 from 9am-1pm (GREEN Camp*)
Location: La Colonia Community Center (at La Colonia Park)
715 Valley Avenue (Castro Street), Solana Beach
*Green Camp: Along with an introduction to a variety of community issue areas (animals, seniors, food & shelter, etc.), students will go more in depth on environmental issues, such as: water preservation, habitat preservation & restoration, recycling/waste reduction, and natural resource conservation. A special thank you to SDG&E and Sempra Energy who support our Green Korps programming!
Cost per Camp:
Campers: $250.00 if paid by check, and $258.00 if paid by credit card.
(A 10% discount will be applied for a second child if registering more than one child for the week)
Teen Counselors: Application Fee is $60 (per camp) if paid by check or $63 if paid by credit card; Please add $15 for Teen Korps T-Shirts (required to be worn by counselors each day of the camp). You must be a current high school or college student and available the entire week you register for from 8:30am-1:30pm. Additionally, counselors are required to attend a Mandatory Camp Training from 7am-8:30am the first Monday of their assigned week of camp(s).
*Please Note: Each participant must be a current Kids Korps USA member
*A minimum of 12 campers per camp is needed to ensure each session.

Campers will experience the joy of giving back to their community and improving the lives of those in need. School buses will take us on a new adventure every day for fun and meaningful experiences, from serving the homeless, training therapy dogs, packing food at the Feeding America, Bingo games with lonely seniors, and canyon/beach clean ups!
